Inspiré par l‘essai de Rebecca Solnit A field guide to getting lost, et par le film Gerry de Gus Van Sant dans lequel deux amis se perdent dans le désert nord- américain, nous explorons la notion d‘égarement, en voyageant à travers une imagerie intérieure reliée à de vastes paysages désertiques. Notre confrontation avec la solitude d‘un milieu sauvage oscille entre d‘agréables expériences de liberté, la perte de l‘orientation et la sensation d‘une mort proche.
Salt Lake est une excursion dans un terrain inconnu, en et hors de nous, et une recherche vers l‘essentiel.

»It was a detour into the essential and the introspective, as the desert often is, and they were lost in it.« – Rebecca Solnit
Inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s essay »A field guide to getting lost« and Gus Van Sant’s movie »Gerry« in which two friends get lost in the North American desert, we explore notions of being lost, while traveling through internal imagery of vast desert landscapes. Our encounters with the solitude of wilderness oscillate between pleasurable experiences of freedom, the loss of orientation and nearness of death.
Salt Lake is a hike through unknown terrain, within and outside of ourselves, and a search for the essential.

Salt Lake ist inspiriert von Rebecca Solnits Essay »A field guide to getting lost«, sowie von Gus Van Sants Film »Gerry«, in dem sich zwei Freunde in der nordamerikanischen Wüste verirren. Daran angelehnt erforschen wir Formen des Verlorenseins und begeben uns in Imaginationen weiter Wüstenlandschaften. Unsere Begegnungen mit der Einsamkeit der Wildnis bewegen sich zwischen dem Erleben von Freiheitsgefühlen, Orientierungslosigkeit und der Nähe des Todes. Der Trip in die Wüste wird zu einer Suche nach dem Essentiellen und zur Auseinandersetzung mit dem Unbekannten um uns herum und in uns selbst.
